Leaning into the season of winter
I am definetly embracing the beautiful calm season of winter and really stepping into the Hygge lifestyle as much as I can and this is the Danish way to live well, its actually pronounced "hoo-ga," and it is encompassing a feeling of cosy contentment and well-being through enjoying the simple things in life. I have The little book of Hygge by Meik Wiking and it is such a wonderful little book to help give us tips and ideas to take pleasure from the presence of soothing things and create an atmosphere where we can let our guard down and persue the everyday pleasures, which could be as simple as sitting by a fire or sharing food with friends. I have been doing a lot of reflection in my life and loads of clearing out the old to make way for the new and I am feeling lighter and lighter. Allowing myself to rest and reflect I am able to work out what is not serving me in my life anymore and then I am able to let it go which feels so good for my soul. I have been doing some walking too with my two lovely dogs and the outside is still so beautiful with all the autumn leaves underfoot which I love to look at and practice mindfulness whilst im enjoying the last remains of all the autumnal colours before they disintegrate into the winter months. I have also been wreath making and I am finding this so soothing and enjoyable to do especially foraging for the pine cones in the woods beforehand. The older I am getting the more I will just experiment with creativity and I find this really fills me up and gives me time to think and contemplate my life and all the lovely times ahead of me.
